Everything You Want To Know About Urinary Track Infection Remedies

Searching for treatments for UTIs (Urinary Tract Infections), online will return thousands of matches.  With the market being flooded with apparent “cures”, the best option will probably be home remedy.

Doctors of course will tell you that antibiotics are the only true option.  However, with over 25% of all UTI sufferers treated with antibiotics, having a repeat attack shortly after, this needs to be questioned.  Fortunately, it is being.  A new generation of doctors, so called natural health doctors, are starting to promote the virtues of home remedy.

Their job is not an easy one; with many people still believing natural remedies to be somewhat of a taboo, or hocus-pocus.  Whilst this is true of many, (a frog on the head cures a cold in Eastern Europe apparently), it isn’t the case with most UTI treatments.

As with many things, the theory behind getting rid of a UTI is deceptively simple.  All you need do is flush the bacteria from your system.  Starting with possibly not the most secret of secrets, here are seven of them!

The fact that drinking plenty of water is good for our health is not a new one.  However, this rule couldn’t be better proven than by the issue of a UTI.  The cause for all the pain and suffering is the E-coli bacteria.  And it loves an environment that whilst damp, is not too wet.  Hence, by throwing as much water as possible after it, it will find your urinary tract less and less appealing to raise its family.  However, do not hold in the sensation to urinate.  This will just make things worse.  Men should aim to take on board at least 120 ounces in a day, and for women 90.

Having a simple, perhaps even plain diet would be good too.  It is certainly worth limiting the amount of processed foods you consume, whilst a minimum of five separate portions of fruit and vegetables should be eaten each day.  We all know how good these are for us already, but the vitamins and nutrients they contain are vital to boosting your system’s immunity

Herbs are also very beneficial in aiding your system to be flushed effectively.  An excellent one to up the intake of particularly is Parsley.  This will provide the urinary tract with Apiol – a natural antiseptic oil, which will help to soothe and calm infection.

Taking vitamin C supplements will also help boost your immunity.  More than that however, it will also help to acidify your urine in the bladder to actively kill the bacteria.

Another good natural treatment for UTIs is herbal therapy.  As with the parsley mentioned above, many herbal remedies can help to flush the system, and soothe aches and pains.  One particularly worthy of note is Echinacea.  Often called the “wonder drug”, it both boosts immunity and aids effective flushing.

Sleep is the body’s natural way of restoring itself from the exertions of the day before.  Ensure you get 8 hours each day, and exercise for half an hour each morning.  This will encourage the body to help itself. And also contribute to better overall health.

Finally, be certain not to use any douches or other such products, and always wipe from front to back.

One Response to “Treating a UTI – 7 Secrets Your Doctor Won’t Tell You”

  1. louise Said,

I always get a UTI after 24hours of having sex. I do not have it often which i think may be the cause as i only see my partner 3 times a month for a few days. But i do not want to have sex with him no more because it is not worth the pain the next few days. This has been happening for a year now and before this partner i use to suffer with it but not as much. I am sick of having to go to the doctors and getting a repeat prescription. :-(
